“After conquering Earth, instant noodles have now headed into space with Japanese astronaut Soichi Noguchi, who brought a new zero-gravity version aboard the American shuttle Discovery.

Nissin Food, whose invention of instant noodles sparked a 65-billion-pack-a-year global industry, developed a special ball-shaped version of the usually dangling noodle that space travellers can eat easily with a fork.”

An excerpt from ” Noodle spat delays flight in Thailand’ posted August 08 2005.

“Chirayu Hoontrakul, 35, a car rental agent, was chatting on her cellphone to a potential customer on Sunday afternoon during the takeoff of AirAsia flight FD3015 from Bangkok to Phuket, prompting stewardess Monthicha Kuawong, 30, to tell her to turn the device off for safety reasons, said the Daily News newspaper.

A peeved Chirayu ordered a bowl of instant noodles from Monthicha 15 minutes after takeoff and then threw the hot meal in the hostess’ face and pummelled her twice on the neck.”

“Officials said the ship was carrying 100,000 instant noodle meals, water, blankets, clothing, first aid kits, medicine and medical instruments from the government. A second ship carrying charity aid was scheduled to leave later in the day.

The North has accepted both shipments. South Korea took steps yesterday towards fulfilling Pyongyang’s main request, with the government holding discussions with political parties.”
