A Salt of Common Sense
January 22nd, 2006 :: noodleson
If you didn’t have anything else to eat or drink in the desert, which is worst? Taking a pitch of salt or a glass of water with three time as much salt?
Well, I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t hesitate to drink a glass or two of that salty water…
If you had agreed with me, you might had realized that it’s not how much salt you take but rather that your body needs a balance between salt and water and even when you lose water, you lose both.
If you go to an all-you-can-eat buffet for certain you are going to eat way more than the recommended Daily Value for salts. Does that make you feel sick…no. That is because you have also consumed enough water with the foods.
To says that you have consumed too much salt really doesn’t tell the whole story. Drink more water and you will be fine. You can eat plenty of beer nuts (too salty at any other times) with beers!
