Chicken Flavor “Fresh” Udon
January 19th, 2006

Sakura Noodle manufactures fresh instant “Udon” (Japanese flour-based noodles) under the Chikara brand. It comes in six soup flavors.
Good Udon noodles can’t be judged by label alone and these fresh instant one is not as good as Nong Shim’s, however it’s less than half the price. The chicken flavor is ok but relatively mild. That’s not a problem, as the hearty portion of noodles makes a rather tasty starter recipe with the addition of toppings and spices as seen in second half of the image below with cilantro, mint and flavored chili oil added.
While it can be store in a cool dry place for up to six months, it’s recommended for the refrigerator at home in hot weathers. It can optionally be cooked in the microwave by heating it in a bowl, covered in water for about 3 minutes or until hot and then add the seasoning.
Suggested Cooking Directions
- Add noodle to pot with 1 1/2 cups of boling water and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add all flavor packs, stir and serve.
- *If desired, garnish with vegetables, meat, fish, egg, etc. - see second half of image below.
